Lo Stivale

Lo Stivale was born as a vegetable-tanning tannery and its traditions are passed down from father to son till nowadays. The tannery is characterized for its 'stuffing' method for leathers, which still today remains the same as it was 40 years ago: in drums using animal fats and fish oils. The tannery produces 'vacchetta' leather, a leather mainly suitable for shoes. Its fatting is based on the so-called 'lustro': a mixture of oils, gelatins and animal waxes which is still today put on the leather by hand. In addition to the modern machines, Lo Stivale remains loyal to that historical equipments representatives of the first years of the tanning sector boom, when the handmade work and the rudimentary machines were something fundamental .
