After launching the International Design Contest "Pelle +", the Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium in collaboration with the Italian Trade Commission, organises "Pelle + Creatività", the first technical workshop to study deeply the vegetable tanning. The workshop will be held in Tokyo on May 27th. and 28th., 2010. Its target is to transmit important information to people willing to participate to the intenrational contest Pelle + and also to the leather sector producers interested to the characteristics of vegetable-tanned leather and to new possible applications of this kind of leather.

 

PELLE+ Creatività is a one-day workshop; various relators will talk about many different subjects, introduced by Andrea Ghizzani, President of the Consortium: from the productive process of vegetable tanning, to the origin of raw hides, the various steps in the production, the characteristics of the finished leather. The workshop will be closed by the intervention of Andrea Traina, an Italian artisan who will talk about the interpretation of veg-leather and its use in finished products. A live performance of hand-working on veg-leather will follow.
