An important piece of the industrial archeology in the tanning district, “Conceria dell’Orologio” in Ponte a Egola, built in the second half of the nineteenth century, comes back to life in the Casaconcia exhibition space, headquarters of the Genuine Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather Consortium.

“Umane genti”: the exhibition of daniele spisa

Telling about the “Human People”, as the title of this exhibition states, is the rguiding thread of Daniele Spisa’s art. People reading a newspaper in subway cars, or sitting in a car, putting on their makeup in the mirror; others on the train, in a motorway restaurant, or still posing for the family photo, or in a waiting room, waiting for their turn. The meaning of Spisa’s work is in a painting that looks at people, not at nature or things: the artist’s real interest lies in the normality of everyday life and in the stories that arise from the images, imprint themselves in the eyes of the beholder, supported by a strong artistic personality. A force that animates the canvases, opening narrative paths supported by poses, objects, color and light to the viewer’s thought, to creative investigation.

La mente irrequieta di Valerio Comparini porta alla ribalta i figuranti della provincia le storie buffe e un po’ amare di personaggi qualunque, che probabilmente non ambivano nemmeno a metterci a conoscenza dei loro difetti e delle loro banalissime storie. E invece eccoli su un piedistallo, come se avessero deciso, con un “colpo di stato”, di abbattere i monumenti dedicati ai grandi eroi, ai personaggi importanti, per prendere nottetempo il loro posto, per venire alla ribalta a raccontarci le loro personalissime e un po’ scottanti verità. La forma sembra quella classica della vignetta pubblicata su un giornale, le teste sovradimensionate, i caratteri decisamente accentuati, come se l’artista avesse preso a un certo punto i suoi schizzi e li avesse ingranditi fino ad assumere l’importanza di un quadro, andando ad enfatizzare ancora di più le imperfezioni”
